INCREASED DIGITISATION of AAU WORK
Covid-19 has generated new requirements and increased digitization at AAU in teaching, meeting culture, and the way we work and communicate in general. ITS offered new tools for employees while working at home, which also provides several new opportunities for the upcoming semester. ITS offer assistance for the new options with support, guides, and free mini-courses. For teachers, mini courses can be carried out in cooperation between ITS and the Center for Digitally Supported Learning (CDUL), so that the courses include both the use of technical equipment, pedagogy, and didactics.
COOPERATION AND TEACHING TOOLS
AAU's video conferencing rooms for teaching and meetings can now also be used with MS Teams and AAU ZOOM as used so far with Skype for Business. This increases the flexibility in the choice of tools in teaching, meeting, exam, and Ph.D. -situations, with participants attending both physically and online. In functionality, there are both similarities and differences between Skype for Business, MS Teams, and AAU ZOOM. Read more here.
LIVE STREAMING OF TEACHING
The institutes have requested a technical solution that allows live streaming of lectures from classrooms (seminar rooms/learning rooms) to students participating online since fewer students are allowed to be present physically in classrooms. The Danish Council for Strategic Education (DSUR) has decided not to adapt classrooms for the current situation. If the institutions themselves wish to purchase equipment, ITS suggests purchasing Polycom Studio, which can be used with MS Teams, AAU ZOOM, and Skype for Business. This tool is supported by ITS. ITS Support's local service desks meet employees and students face-to-face both in the service desks, but also on campus when support is needed in premises and people’s workplaces. This means that our IT supporters are in contact with many different people and IT equipment. Therefore, ITS employees pay extra attention to the general recommendations on Covid-19 reservations, which includes keeping distance, hand washing, and sanitizing, in order to take care of themselves and help limit the spread of infection on AAU. In the counters, we have set up plexiglass and limitations on how many users ITS can support at once, we wear gloves and/or use hand sanitizing, and users' equipment is disinfected before and after contact. When IT supporters support in the campus area, face masks/visors will be used in crowded areas.
When using a headset, hand microphone, or other tools in classrooms and auditoriums, the individual user is responsible for disinfecting before and after use. Wipes will be available in the classrooms. It is not allowed to use hand sanitizer.
STAY AHEAD OF SAFETY
Finally, ITS encourages everyone to pay extra attention to having a strong password for AAU's systems. When taking up teaching, meetings, interviews, or group work, it is important that you are also aware of the protection of personal data.
The controlled shutdown of access to AAU's IT systems has had an impact on many. We are sorry for the inconvenience, and we hope that we can help everyone with a pleasant startup of the new semester.
We wish everyone a great semester-startup.
