AAU’s new Deputy Director for ITS, Jacob-Steen Madsen, comes from a position as Head of DKCERT at DeiC, has been CIO at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) for several years, and has previously worked at the Danish Agency for Social Services and several other institutions, including UCN in Aalborg.
Jacob-Steen Madsen himself says that the position as head of the shared IT department at AAU was a job he simply could not resist applying for. Both because of the interesting challenge of leading a unified IT department and also because AAU has an exciting approach to how a university should operate.
At the same time, he is looking forward to reconnecting with a large part of his network, as he already knows many people at the university.
University Director Søren Lind Christiansen has emphasised the importance of finding an experienced candidate with knowledge of IT in a university setting.
“I am very pleased to introduce Jacob-Steen Madsen as the new Deputy Director for ITS. Jacob-Steen Madsen brings extensive experience as head of IT departments at several higher education institutions and from DeiC, giving him a strong sector background. I am confident that Jacob-Steen is the right person to ensure excellent leadership and development of ITS in good collaboration with the staff and to strengthen the dialogue and cooperation between ITS, faculties, departments, shared service units, AAU Innovation and others,” says University Director Søren Lind Christiansen.
Jacob-Steen Madsen is 55 years old, lives in Bogense on Funen, is married, and has two adult sons. He will be finding an apartment in Aalborg and is accustomed to working far from home, having done so for several years, including in Aalborg. In fact, for so long that he still remains a fan of the ice hockey team Aalborg Pirates.
